For a bit of background knowledge, foraging is MUCH, much better with build 41, and once you're able to find crickets in foraging (Foraging 1-2), start exclusively searching for them.Usually plants give about twice as many seeds when harvested as you needed to plant them. So about half of your crop you can harvest as soon as it is ready - no need to wait for seeding phase.
