Previous owner had removed the rod & springs from the governor arm to the carb and throttle lever and had a homemade throttle rod from the big throttle ... I wanted a little more rpm out of the engine but retain the governor. When I got the bike the governor was set at 3620 rpm. I know these engines in stock form will take 5000 rpm and still be fine. I wanted to increase the governor speed to about 4500 rpm. It’ll rev to about 4500 rpm with load. That's a lot different compared to a predator, Tillotsons are built to rev higher. Taking a bypassed predator with no billet parts to 5000rpm will almost certainly be catastrophic. It’s an easy process. As long as you leave the stock valve spring you shouldn’t blow it up. The valve will float first.
